So when was the last time we won a penalty shoot out?
No not England. Don’t think anyone cares as every major tournament we seem to fail to win a penalty shootout.
But our question is when was the last time we (SALOP) won a penalty shootout?
Yep that’s right Bury in the play off semi final back in 2009.
But we believe the most memorable penalty shootout was way back in 2004.
The script was set. 14,000 SALOP fans singing their heart out at the Britannia stadium (Stoke) in the glorious sunshine. The game was a very close encounter with Aldershot being the slightly better team.
120 minutes without any team managing to win the game. So it was penalties.
STEP UP SCOTT HOWIE
We all remember the first penalty. Luke Rodgers! His penalty ended up in row ZZ.
Then Scott stepped up and became a legend in all Shrewsbury fans eyes.
Trevor Challis scored the vital penalty to send us back to the football league. And then the inquest began into Howie saving the penalties.
The papers who covered the game said Howie
cheated by stepping off his line. But nobody can argue the saves words spectacular if he was on or off his line.
Ever since, we have only won once since then and that was in 2009. And to top that off WE HAVE NEVER WON A PENALTY SHOOTOUT AT THE GREENHOUS MEADOW

So we have signed a new striker. He’s only scored 1 senior goal but he shows great potential.
He comes from Southampton youth system and plays for Wales Under 21. We think this will be a gem of a signing. He doesn’t just play as striker he’s a bit like Jake Robinson he can create chances or others with his pace and creativity.
If you still think this is a wierd signing then shame on you.
Give him a few games and he will be the new hero at fortress meadow.
So there’s only one thing to say.
Welcome Ryan Doble
So the long awaited decision on James Collins decision has been made.
James Collins, towns top scorer last season has decided to depart from town and join Swindon Town.
A lot of people have decided to abuse Collins about his decision to leave. But we want to put a thought in your heads.
Would you stay in your job if you got offered a job with better money and a better opportunity of promotion?
So instead of giving him a hard time, thank him for what he done for us in the 18 months he was with us.
Remember that goal against Arsenal? Remember your reaction?
Remember his goal against Dagenham?
Remember his goal against Morecambe?
These are just a few memories to make people get off his back. Instead send him this picture and thank him for all his hard work and always giving 100%

We visit Leeds in the cup. Then a week later we get to visit Bramall Lane. What a brilliant start to the season.
We then have Preston visit the meadow for Nicky Wroe and SCS to be reunited with the players and fans.
We ask for one thing, please don’t boo.
Other key dates for us fans include
Walsall Home Saturday 13th October
Walsall Away Saturday 2nd March
Crewe Away Saturday 16th March
Portsmouth Away Saturday 20th Ocotber
Coventry Away New Years Day
We can’t wait for the season now. Who knows we could do a Doncaster and get back to back promotions.
So come on and get behind the team.
So we finally know who we have in the Capital One Cup. LEEDS UNITED AWAY.
How many people have been looking forward to saying that. Elland Road is an iconic stadium and it would be brilliant to see blue and amber shirts and flags in the away end.
Let’s out sing the Leeds fans and back the team to another cup upset.
We are so excited about travelling to another championship stadium. Just think in one year we’ve been to:
And now we can add Leeds United to that list.
We will let you know when tickets on sale. And we will find out locals for town fans to go to.
So let’s get behind the boys on the 12th/13th August.
Well with the transfer window soon to open you would expect being a lower league team we would go for free transfers. With many players going out to other clubs you can start to see gaps in the team and with a lot of decent players being released from other clubs it would be a matter of convincing them to come to the meadow.
But no we’ve only got 3 players on freebies.
Asa Hall made his return to the meadow after turning down a renewal at Oxford.
Aaron Wildig was made permanent.
And Darren Jones was brought in to fill the gap Sharps left.
Hopefully we will be adding more players to this list before 18th August.
This will be an interesting couple of months.
This was at least half an hour after the pitch invasion an town fans stayed behind to celebrate. Were you there? Let us know.
