So the final home pre season game took place with Wolverhampton Wanderers. Just over 4000 people came to see the interesting game.
Weale, Grandison, Jones, Hector, Purdie; Wildig, Summers, Richards, Parry; Gornell, Morgan
De Vries; Foley, Batth, Berra, Doherty; Edwards, Jonsson, Milijas, Hunt; Sigurdarson, Nouble
So the first half began with wolves seeing plenty of the ball but not really causing Chris Weale or our back 4 any problems. Milijas and Hunt saw enough of the ball but with Turner having the boys so organised defensively, you couldn’t see a goal coming at all.
But the first real chance fell to new boy Luke Summerfield as he gave Wolves keeper De Vries a stinger of a shot that was saved dramatically.
But on 18 minutes De Vriescouldn’t keep hold of the ball after initially saving Gornell‘s shot from close range and it looked like it would be a tough one to call but the goal has been given to Terry as he got the final touch.
1-0 Town (Gornell 18)
It nearly got a lot better for town as Grandison, who ran riot down the right hand side, set Gornell up for a second but he just didn’t connect well with his header and ended up getting his directions wrong.
But not long after Marvin Morgan ran clear and tried to put what looked like a cross in but after a huge deflection off Batth and ended up in the back of the net.
Half Time Salop 2-0 Wolves
So the second half began with a totally new Wolves squad with the likes ofDoyle, Ebanks-Blake featuring.
The half didn’t start to well when that man Ebanks-Blake had a wild effort take a deflection to fly past Weale to bring Wolves back into the game
Salop 2-1 Wolves (Ebanks-Blake 50
After that town saw very little of the ball but with Wolves pressing as hard as they were Hector and Jones proved to Turner that they could cope with the pace that Wolves were bringing forward.
Turner decided it was time for some fresh legs and on came Asa Hall for Richards and Wright for the first goalscorer Gornell. This seemed to work as not long after Hector had a header cleared off the line as a Mark Wright corner caused mayhem.
But Wolves found the equaliser when a error a the back meant Doumbia could smash home their second goal much to the delight of the travelling supporters who celebrated like they had just survived relegation from the premiership (oops the didn’t)
After that we saw a few more substitutions including Goldson coming on for Jones Taylor coming on for Parry
The main player everybody was glad to see back was Reuben Hazell who come on for Grandison after being out since mid September after that horrible injury cause by
But after 90 minutes of good football it finished 2-2 which after the 2 45 minutes seemed a fair result.
