The New Era Begins

The close season has already began with a massive announcement and we are pleased to see the club learning from their mistakes 2 years ago and have the new kits on sale straight after the final kick of the season.

The rumours were doing their rounds for the last couple of weeks but having learnt about the new kit being available after Plymouths game some weeks ago it was always funny listening and reading the outrageous claims that many Salop fans decided to make up.

958790But the look of the new kits surpassed all expectations and seeing the Loggerheads take their place on the new kit is a fantastic achievement for all involved in the Bring Back The Loggerheads campaign. It is obvious the new kit has gone down really well with Salop fans and that was obvious with the masses donning both home and away tops in the Brooklands on Saturday evening.

The promotional video is also a new idea that has gone down a treat with the video being played straight after the final whistle on Saturday. If you haven’t seen it yet then don’t worry you can see it now.

We hope that all Salopians celebrate the start of ‘The New Errea’ and the shirts sell in high numbers.

Our Very Own End Of Season Awards

So we have just announced on Twitter that we are going to run our very own End Of Season Awards which will include several ‘Don’t Take Us Seriously’ categories.

First up we are looking for the #PlayersTweetOfTheYear and there are several contenders. Who remembers Gary Lineker being trolled by Mickey Demetriou or how about the #TeamSpirit tweet from Connor Goldson.

We are going to run you through some of our favourites and once we have enough contenders we will set up the poll. Get ready these are quality

Jermaine takes his goal in his seemingly long stride

Grimmer knows the score

Is Mickey Demetriou a physic?

Or is he just a ultimate troller?

If you have any suggestions let us know and we will get them up on here and get the poll sorted for the first vote of the season.

Your Support This Saturday

5 wins on the row and the feel good factor has well and truly taken over the Salop fans. With only 5 games left most fans have that feeling it will only take 2 wins to be promoted following Bury dropping points on Monday. Of course we want you, the fans, to make Saturday a party atmosphere and help roar the lads closer to that so called ‘line’.

With that we would like to remind all fans that this Saturday is Retro Day and we urge all supporters to wear their favourite (or least favourite) shirts from the Shrewsbury Town past.

Micky Mellon has backed the idea by saying the following

It is a great idea from the fans and something we fully support as we go into these important games.

So with that we would love to see a ‘bumper crowd’ at Greenhous Meadow on Saturday and lets go and make (quoting Bizzy here) a canny owd racket. These last 5 games will be tense, they will be nervy at most times but at no point do you moan or groan. The players feed off the crowd and it is important they feel relaxed and play the football we can.

So for the last 5 times this season #SingYourHeartsOut

Burton 1-1 Stevenage Reaction

The gap is down to 3 points thanks to Stevenage holding Burton Albion to a 1-1 draw at the Pirelli Stadium live on Sky Sports.  As always Twitter reacts to the result and we have selected a few of our favourite tweets in reaction to the enthralling game on a very poor pitch.

Twitter Reacts

Friday seems so much bigger now and this is where us, the fans do our bit. Get yourself down Greenhous Meadow and #SingYourHeartsOut and lets urge the lads to the title. We can be the 12th man and we can do our bit. #MMBA #Salop

Portsmouth 0 – 2 Shrewsbury Reaction

It is probably the best performance and best result I have had since I come to the club

Those were the words of Salop boss Micky Mellon after a historical win against Fratton Park. The side thats ‘too big for League Two” just did not compete against plucky little Shrewsbury and 2 fantastic goals from Bobby Grant sealed a massive 3 points for Salop.

As always the fans tweeted in their thousands afterwards and we have selected the best for you to see.

So it seems everyone seems very pleased with todays win and it’s been fantastic seeing plenty of Salop fans using #SingYourHeartsOut in their tweets. Now we look to Dagenham on Friday and we look forward to seeing the return of the drum. Don’t forget you can contribute to the game as much as the team so get yourselves down the Meadow and be the 12th man.

We are now into the most important time of the season and its blatant to see supporters are still not backing the team at Greenhous Meadow and we are taking it upon ourselves to get this changed!

Depsite a fantastic season with Mickey Mellon masterminding what seems to be a swift return to League One, the crowds are still down and the atmosphere at Greenhous Meadow is woeful and we and many are questioning what could be done to change this.

This campaign is going to be a permanent feature for us until we believe the Meadow is a noisy and hostile stadium. Hopefully with the backing of all Supporter Groups, the club and local press we could make this campaign a success and get the meadow “rocking”

Thinking caps are officially glued to several members of SBA and from now until the next home game we will be posting some ideas up on here so keep your eyes glue and if you have any ideas to help us with this campaign then feel free to send them in either on Twitter @SalopsBlueArmy or email us at salopsbluearmy@gmail.com and we will respond to every email.

All thats left to say for now is #SingYourHearsOut
